What is Central Processing Unit [CPU]?

The central processing unit (often called CPU or simply Processing Unit) processes the raw data into information.
There are three main parts(elements) of the Central Processing Unit:

  • The Control Unit, reponsible for coordinating the input and output devices.
  • The arithmetic and logic unit in which the calculations and logical decisions are made.
  • The immediate access store, which provides memory for holding data and programs.
The immediate access store (IAS) is on a chip or a series of chip inside the computer unlike                 data held on disk, which can take some time on load.
